Participatory conservation, departmental domain

Created under Law No. 5,377/2014, Cerro Kavaju Protected Landscape is Paraguay's first wild protected area under departmental public domain, part of the National System of Wild Protected Areas (SINASIP). It spans the districts of Caacupé and Atyrá, and is managed by the Cordillera Departmental Government together with the area's Management Committee and the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences (UNA), under the 2025–2035 Management Plan.
